Lufthansa Lounge Heathrow Terminal 2 review: Shame on me for being apprehensive about this
You know how it feels when you walk into an airline lounge with low expectations? And then it turns out to be one of the nicest lounges you’ve been to in a while? That’s exactly what happened when I visited the Lufthansa Business Lounge in Terminal 2 at Heathrow Airport.
Of course I expected it to look nice. But I wasn’t expecting it to be so large. I definitely wasn’t expecting as much food. And I certainly wasn’t expecting it to be so comfortable.
Basically, it was unexpectedly unexpected.

Location
You’ll find the Lufthansa Business Lounge located on level 5 of Terminal 2 at LHR (one level up from the departures level). It’s located in the central terminal area (near the security checkpoint) so you’re not going to have to walk far after clearing security.

You’ll have to take the escalator or an elevator one flight up from level 4 / the departures level. The entrance is right there at the top of the escalator.
How to get in
Any passenger flying business class (or first class) on any Star Alliance airline gets complementary access. I was flying Swiss Airlines to Miami (via Zurich) this particular morning.
You can also access this lounge if:
- You have Lufthansa Senator status
- You have Star Alliance Gold status
- You are a HON Circle member
Note that entry rules and requirements can change, so I do recommend checking the official Lufthansa lounge entry requirements just to be sure.

Layout
As I mentioned at the top of this review, this is a very large lounge. It’s more of an ‘open room’ lounge meaning that the space isn’t broken up into multiple rooms like it was in the old Amex Centurion Lounge at SFO.

Despite the open floor plan, it’s a very quiet and serene environment. There isn’t much privacy to be had, but I had plenty of room to relax and get comfortable. It’s basically the polar opposite of what I experienced in the West Palm Beach Escape Lounge.

This is a very functional lounge featuring a conference room / business center. There are cubicles to escape to, but your best bet for getting any work done will be in the business center.
The only thing missing? Showers. There are no showers in this lounge unfortunately.

Food and drinks
The LHR Lufthansa Lounge features a full buffet of hot food items (available all day long). The self serve food bar is centrally located on the back wall of the lounge, but there is another mini drink and snack station located closer to the entrance.

The quality of food was pretty good in my opinion. Everything was hot, fresh, and quite tasty. And plentiful! The staff was quick to replace / replenish anything that looked to be running low.

Pros and cons
I like it when I’m surprised by an airline lounge, and this one definitely did that to me. In a good way! Perhaps my only regret is that I didn’t get to the airport early enough to be able to hang out here any longer than I did.
Pros
- It’s a very large and bright space. It didn’t feel cramped at all.
- The quality (and quantity) of food is excellent. Variety is quite good as well. There’s something for everyone.
- It’s really quiet. Despite the open floor plan, it feels like a secluded oasis.
Cons
- The variety of different (lounge-ish) seating types is lacking in my opinion. You’ll love it if you enjoy sitting bolt upright though.
- It’ll be a loooong walk to your gate if your flight is departing at either end of the terminal.
